My whole family, hobbies, things i love and my heritage

This was my favorite project. I used a lot of the lasso and quick selection tool. Lasso tool was always my favorite tool to use. I went online and looked up some photos and used other photos from myspace. I transformed/scaled all of the pictures. In all I used 12 different photos. Matisse is one of my favorite artists and I loved the maid with the table. My dog, peanut, is sitting on the chair. Shes wearing her booties and coat. I love her so much and she is a huge part of the family. On the table are lots of bread because i am a bread head. there is also coffee because i could not live without it (i am addicted to caffeine). The plant in the background is there because one of my hobbies is plants. I have about 15 plants in my home. I love taking care of them and seeing them grow. The three flags at the top symbolize my heritage: Scottish, Polish and Irish. I am very proud of who I am and where my family is from. The background is a picture i took at the beach. i think it makes the picture really come together and look happy and loving. The people in it are my Grandfather: Pop-Pop (he has been my father figure my entire life), my grandmother: Nanny (she has been my mother figure my entire life), my great-grandmother: Gramma-Gibby (without her i would not be able to pay for school-cosigner), my best friend: Meredith (she has been my rock through some really tough times), my boyfriend: Brandon (he keeps me on my feet at all times but makes me so very happy), my best buddy: Charlie (one of the most kind, generous loving people i know). The six people are my entire family and i love them with all my heart.

I choose blue and salmon because they just looked so pretty together!
I remember from my childhood the messy colorful pictures everyone made. I especially remember the books I read by Shel Silverstein. He had such positive messages in his poetry and really amazing fun illustrations. The Giving Tree was my favorite book. It was beautifully sad but full of positive outlooks.

This project represents what I'm currently going through. PAIN. A car was speeding and hit me from behind on Halloween. My car is totaled. Since the accident I have had severe pain in my neck and back, but especially in my back. To the point where I have trouble walking, sleeping and just doing all the things I used to do. Everyone should appreciate what they have. The most simple things, like health, we take for granted. Before the accident I was bitching and moaning about how stressful my life is and now I'm starting to appreciate the little things. I'm just glad that I'm alive. That I am not more seriously injured.

shopping, cooking and baking

One of my favorite activities is shopping for fresh food. I like to get most of my meats, veggies and fruits at whole foods or a farmers market. I enjoy taking that fresh food and turning it into a delicious meal or dessert. My favorite thing to bake is apple pie. My favorite thing to cook is a pasta dinner with salad and homemade garlic bread. making my own food the way i like it with fresh ingrediants is one of my favorite things to do.

Weird Jersey

I choose a woman pumping gas because in New Jersey someone pumps your gas for you. For the longest time I did not know how to operate a gas pump. Very sad. I choose the Pork Roll because it originated in Trenton, NJ which is close to where I grew up and the capital of NJ. Its also very tasty! I choose children walking behind a hawk mascot because Maurice Hawk is the first school I attended. There are also a lot of children and families in Princeton Junction. I choose the background which is the Princeton junction train station because it was only about a mile from my house growing up. I would travel to new york a lot. The train was so close i could hear it from my back porch. I choose the acme picture because i lived across the street from an acme my whole life and it shut down about 3 months ago. It had been the center of the town and in the failing economy many of our favorite places are closing. The acme is a memory for me. Funny thing is, for some reason where I grew up people don't say ACME they say AC-AH-ME. maybe its just a jersey thing...

Frustration

I choose this image because the rabbit humping the chicken made me laugh. The women sitting by herself made me think of how I go off alone and do my own thing most of the time. I combined them by cutting, copying, pasting, lasso tool, blurred image and textured the image. I wrote,"why must I be a lady? I want to do what I want when I want but society wont let me!" because the image shows a sexual act (the rabbit humping the chicken) behind a blurred women. I feel as though women's feelings, ideas and sexuality get "blurred" or pushed to the back. I feel as a women that I cant always express myself fully or be fully open with society. I don't always feel excepted and in a way I hope this image describes that.
